Oskaloosa, Iowa - The Central Methodist volleyball program fell in a five-set battle to William Penn by scores of 19-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-11, and 10-15 Saturday afternoon in Oskaloosa, Iowa. 

With the loss, CMU falls to 7-3 and 1-2 in the Heart. William Penn improves to 7-6 and 3-0 in conference action. It marks Central's first defeat to William Penn since the Statesmen joined the conference in 2015. 

After dropping the first two sets, Central battled back in the third and cruised in the fourth to force a winner-take-all set five. However, William Penn would pull away late to take the fifth over CMU 15-10. The Statesmen saved their best for last, finishing the final set with a .333 hitting percentage. 

Callie Henson led Central with 16 kills, along with five digs and four block assists. Joana Milho added 10 kills on 25 swings for a hitting percentage of .280. 

Delaney Miller and Rita Campos each tallied eight kills. Marina Alonso dished out a match-high 33 assists, while Gabi Owczarek added 13. Krystal Brauner led the defense with 27 digs while Annabelle Maassen tallied 14. 

Central returns to Puckett Field House to host Park University Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7:00 p.m.
