Columbia, Mo. - The No. 14 Central Methodist Volleyball program opened its season with a three-set sweep of Tabor University Friday afternoon in Columbia, Mo.
Friday's match was apart of day one of the Hampton Inn Classic Volleyball Tournament, jointly hosted by both Columbia College and CMU.
The Eagles secured the three-set sweep over the Bluejays by scores of (25-14, 25-13, and 25-16).
Central maintained a balanced offensive attack from up and down the lineup, as five different Eagles tallied six or more kills. The duo of Sydney Healy and Callie Henson led the charge with seven kills apiece.
Annabelle Maassen, Delaney Miller, and newcomer Joana Milho each picked up six kills. Milho was the most efficient hitter of the group, finishing the evening with a .500 hitting percentage.
Gabi Owczarek and Marina Alonso dished out 16 and 13 assists respectively, in addition to two service aces from Owczarek.
On the defensive side, Krystal Brauner led the effort with 12 digs, followed by Shea Luby and Maassen with seven apiece.
As a team, Central concluded the night with a .287 hitting percentage compared to a -.041 percentage for the Bluejays. The Eagles also racked up nine service aces.
Central concludes the Hampton Inn Classic with two maches in Puckett Field House Saturday, August 27th beginning with No. 12 Eastern Oregon at 10:00 a.m. and No. 25 Ottawa at 3:00 p.m.
