Fayette, Mo. - The No. 12 Central Methodist volleyball team swept Heart South Division rival Benedictine College by scores of 25-16, 25-14, and 25-5, Saturday night inside Puckett Field House.
With the win, CMU improves to 12-2 and 3-0 in Heart South Divison play, while the Ravens fall to 6-7 and 1-2 in conference action.
The Eagles controlled the match from start to finish, nearly winning each set by double-digits. Central opened the third set on a 9-0 scoring run, and ultimately claimed set three by a final of 25-5.
It was a notable night for senior middle blocker Grace Unnvik as she tallied her 1000th career over her time at both Missouri State West Plains CC and CMU with a kill late in the first set. As an Eagle, she currently sits in fourth place all-time in career kills with 794.
Callie Henson led the Central offense with 10 kills on 17 swings, good for a .529 hitting percentage. Jordan Wolfe wasn't far behind as she tallied nine kills along with two block assists.
Krystal Brauner recorded 12 digs followed by Annabelle Maassen with seven. Brauner matched her season-high with four service aces, and Marina Alonso once again led the setters with a game-high 16 assists.
Overall, Central finished the evening with a .352 hitting percentage compared to .029 for the Ravens.
Central will remain at home for the second match of a four-game homestand against Missouri Valley College Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 7:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
