Fayette, Mo. - The No. 11 Central Methodist volleyball team fell in five sets to (RV) Ottawa University by scores of; 25-15, 18-25, 20-25, 25-15, 15-8 Monday night in Puckett Fieldhouse.
The loss drops Central to 11-4 overall while the Braves push their record to 16-5. The match is the second between the two squads this season, as CMU swept the Braves in three sets back on Sept. 5 in Puckett Fieldhouse.
OU claimed the first set 25-15 before the Eagles rattled off back-to-back victories in the second and third sets. Ottawa tied the match with a 10-point win in set four and rolled in the final set, 15-8 to earn the upset victory over CMU.
The trio of Jordan Wolfe, Annabelle Maassen and Grace Stumbaugh all recorded double-digit kills. Wolfe led the offense with 17 kills, while Maaseen and Stumbaugh each finished the evening with 13. Callie Henson nearly reached double figures, recording nine kills and nine digs.
Maassen also added 15 digs, good enough to earn a double-double. Krystal Brauner led the defensive unit with 18 digs while Sydni Basler added 12. The duo of Henson and Elise Hardesty-Irvin each finished the evening with nine digs. Hardesty-Irvin dished out a new season high 49 assists paired with three service aces.
Central will look to postseason play, hosting William Penn in the quarterfinals of the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament Tuesday, March 2 at 6:00 p.m. inside Puckett Fieldhouse.
