Kansas City, Mo. – After wrapping up the 2020 fall season with a record of 11-3 overall and 9-3 in conference play, the Central Methodist Volleyball team earned seven all-conference awards, highlighted by four first team selections and Co-Freshman of the Year, Annabelle Maassen.
The Eagles led the Heart with four first team all-conference selections including Grace Stumbaugh, Callie Henson, Jordan Wolfe and Krystal Brauner. Stumbaugh, Brauner and Wolfe were selected to the first team for the second year in a row, and Henson jumped from third team last season to first team this year.
Stumbaugh finished the fall season ranked No. 11 in the NAIA and No. 2 in the Heart in hitting percentage (0.350) along with 125 kills and a team high 49 blocks. Brauner served as a key piece in the Eagles' defense, leading the team with 247 digs. Brauner also collected 52 assists and 12 service aces. Wolfe was a key piece in the Eagles' offense leading the team with 130 kills paired with 35 blocks in the defensive side of the net. Henson rounded at the first team selections, with 120 kills and a .287 hitting percentage and 24 blocks
The only second team selection for Central was Maassen, who also grabbed the Co-Freshman of the Year award. In her first season with the Eagles, Maassen played 33 sets and finished with 61 kills on 206 swings and a 0.209 hitting percentage, she also averaged 1.85 kills per set. Elise Hardesty-Irvin, who also played her first season with the Eagles, landed on the third team. She leads the team in assists and in service aces with 285 and 14 respectively.
The last selection for the Eagles came with freshman Delaney Miller, who received Heart All-Conference Honorable Mention. Miller finished the 2020 fall season with 83 kills and added 21 blocks.
Central earned the No. 3 seed in the Heart of America Athletic Conference women's volleyball tournament and will face William Penn in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, March 2 in Puckett Fieldhouse.
