Parkville, Mo. – The No. 10 ranked Central Methodist volleyball team opened up conference action against Heart newcomer, No. 5 Park University Tuesday afternoon in Parkville, Mo., with the Pirates earing the three-set sweep over the Eagles by scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-18.

The Eagles fall 2-1 overall and 0-1 on conference play, while Park moves to 3-0 and 1-0 in Heart action. Tonight's match against CMU serves as the Pirate's first-ever conference opponent as a new member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Both squads entered tonight's matchup with an unblemished 2-0 mark, as both completed three-set sweeps of their first two opponents of 2020. 

Callie Henson led the offense with eight kills, while Grace Stumbaugh hit .500 and matched Delaney Miller in kills with seven. Stumbaugh also collected six block assists. Both Elise Hardesty-Irvin and Shannon Peters recorded double-digit assists with 16 and 14 respectively, while Krystal Brauner and Annabelle Maassen led the defense with 17 and 16 digs. 

As a team, the Eagles collected seven team blocks compared to the Pirates three. 

CMU continues conference action when they travel to play 0-1 Baker, Friday, Sept. 18 at 7:00 p.m. in Baldwin City, Kan.
