ATCHISON, Kan. – The No. 14-ranked Central Methodist University women's volleyball program picked up another Heart win if our sets on Saturday afternoon during a road trip to Benedictine.
The Eagles now move to 26-3 overall on the season and are 15-1 in conference play while the Ravens fall to 14-18 overall (9-7 Heart). As a team, Central finished the day hitting .269 while holding their opponent just to .153.
Offensively, the program was buoyed by a pair of standout performances at the middle of the net. Mariana Do Nascimento (SR/Salto, Sao Paulo, Brazil) led all attackers on the day after throwing down 13 kills while boasting an impressive .722 hitting percentage. Grace Stumbaugh (JR/Concordia, Mo.) followed 12 kills while adding four blocks and posting a .320 hitting percentage out of the middle. Jordan Wolfe (JR/Camdenton, Mo.) rounded out the top offensive performers on the right side after slamming 11 kills on 23 attempts.
Giovanna Kuntze (SR/Rio de Janiero, Brazil) paced the offense at eight assists per set, totaling 32 in the match, while Shannon Peters (JR/Waverly, Mo.) added 19 helpers. Defensively, Krystal Brauner (FR/Jefferson City, Mo.) lead the team with 17 digs and zero reception errors while Kuntze and Peters each collected double-digit digs.
The Eagles will return to action on Tuesday evening to host MidAmerica Nazarene for the final regular season match of the season. Match time for the Senior Night event is set for 7 PM in Puckett Field House.
