FAYETTE, Mo. – The (RV) Central Methodist volleyball team swept Clarke University 3-0, Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament.
NOTES
• The Eagles will advance to the semi-finals of the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament.
• The Eagles defeated the Pride in three straight sets; 25-18, 25-23, ad 25-21.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Outside hitter, Darcy Latham (SR/Bismark, Mo.) had a match high 16 kills with a .371 hitting percentage.
• Shannon Peters (FR/Waverly, Mo.) managed a double-double with 33 assists and 13 digs, while Alma Flores (JR/Culiacan, Mexico) paced the Eagles' defense with 20 digs in the contest.
• Michaele Bleeker led Clarke's attack with 12 kills and Maddie Ro contributed 16 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Nine points into the first set, Limback tallied a service ace to give Central Methodist the early 6-3 lead. Multiple service aces from Limback and Flores would extend the lead for Central Methodist to 13-6.
• Clarke would put together a 4-0 run at the end of the set, but Central Methodist would close out the set from multiple attack errors by Clarke, 25-18.
• The second set would show to be much closer, as Latham set up Limback for a kill to capture the lead at 12-11. However, Central Methodist would maintain the lead for good off an attack error by Clarke at 17-16. Peters would set up Janjusevic for the kill to finish of the set with a 25-23 win.
• In the final and deciding set, Clarke would jump out to a quick 6-2 lead from multiple errors by Central Methodist. A kill by Latham would tie the set at 11-11, followed by an attack error from Clarke that would give Central Methodist the lead for the remainder of the set.
• With game point on the line and Central Methodist leading 24-19, Clarke would rally and put a 3-0 run together to come within three points. However, Central Methodist would call a timeout and respond from a kill by Latham to close out the set, 25-21.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Eagles recorded 43 kills while hitting .252 compared to 33 kills and a .162 hitting percentage by Clarke.
• The Eagles' held the advantage over Clarke in service aces with 10-2
• The Pride would edge out the Eagles 10-9 on blocks in the contest.

• The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, November 8th, when they face (RV) Missouri Valley in Marshall, Missouri. Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
