CMU falls at Baker in three games


BALDWIN CITY, Kan. Baker (Kan.) won its seventh-straight match on Tuesday evening, as they improved to 11-4 overall and 2-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with a three set win over Central Methodist by scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-18.

Baker collected nine service aces in the match, with five coming from Hannah Bettge, three from Taryn Brees and another from Sara Slater.

The Wildcats' Danielle French had 10 kills, and Shannon Bond finished with eight. Slater led the way with 27 digs and Baker had 7.5 total team blocks.

Jordan Jackson tallied a match-high 12 kills for Central Methodist (7-12, 1-2) to go along with three block assists. Melody Hanson totaled a double-double with 26 assists and 15 digs.

Andrea Lopez was one of five Eagles to record double-digit figures in digs, coming up with 27. Lindsay Smith had 15, while Darcy Latham and Katelyn Waddell each had 10.�

Central Methodist hosts No. 19 Evangel (Mo.) on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 7:30 p.m. CT inside Puckett Field House.
