Missouri Valley defeats Volleyball on Black Out Night

FAYETTE, Mo. - Missouri Valley College earned a three-set Heart of America Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Central Methodist University in front of over 600 people attending "Black Out and YMCA Night."

Central Methodist students and fans wore black to darken Puckett Field House, while the Eagles welcomed Boonville YMCA children to the match. The youngsters even displayed their volleyball skills with an exhibition match played between the second and third sets.

The Vikings (9-10, 2-4 HAAC) defeated the Eagles (5-15, 0-7 HAAC) by scores of 25-20, 25-14 and 25-20.

Megan Hardin and Ana Jose Calito led Missouri Valley's offense with nine kills apiece. Jessica Gates had 20 digs. Jada Hollinshead added 26 assists.

Dana Peters and Julia Weber sparked the Central Methodist attack with seven and six kills, respectively.

The Eagles' Hannah Babcock recorded 15 digs. Kristi Miller had 12.

Sarah Lewey dished out 10 assists in the match for the Green and Black. Kylie Melkersman added eight from her setter position.

Central Methodist will host College of Saint Mary on Thursday inside Puckett Field House. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.
