Maryville, Mo. - The Central Methodist Indoor Track and Field program posted a strong showing Saturday at the Coach Aslup Invite in Maryville, Missouri.
The group produced multiple event wins, Top-5 finishes, new school records, and several new NAIA marks against a competitive field.
The Eagles were led by standout performances on the track. Freshman Isaac Lawson claimed first place in the men's 200 meters with a school record time of 21.68 seconds.
On the women's side, Bailey Arceneaux captured the 600-yard title, while Aroa Carballo followed closely in second to give Central Methodist a 1–2 finish in the event.
In the hurdles, the women dominated the 60-meter hurdle finals. Freshman Akeelah Knox won the event in 8.74 seconds, hitting the 'B' standard for national qualification and landing the No. 6 time in the NAIA so far this season. Tafaol Mohamed finished third, Shannon O'Neil took fourth, and Zaria Jones placed fifth, all contributing nationally ranked performances. On the men's side, Wilton George earned a runner-up finish in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.12 seconds.
Zakiya Porter highlighted the sprints by placing second in the women's 60 meter dash with a NAIA No. 7 time of 7.57 seconds, lowering her previous school record set back in December.
The field events also produced podium finishes, as Haley Bellamy won the women's high jump at 1.71 meters, moving to No. 2 in the NAIA and hitting the 'A' standard for national qualification. Annemarie Koerner placed third.
Joana Vakasobuduru finished sixth in the women's shot put with a toss of 12.74 meters.
In distance events, Allena Rowland placed third in the women's 800 meters, posting the NAIA's ninth-fastest time this season at 2:17.90.
Central will continue indoor season at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa. The two-day meet begins Friday, Jan. 23.
