Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist duo of Allena Rowland and Haley Bellamy were recognized as the Heart Women's Indoor Track and Field athletes of the Week by the conference office on Monday.
Rowland was tabbed the Track Athlete of the Week, while Bellamy earned Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Rowland had an outstanding showing in both the 400m run and as a member of the 4x400m relay at the Concordia Early Bird Invite this past weekend. The senior of Hereford, Arizona, won the 400m run with a new school record time of 56.15 seconds, which is now the No. 1 time in the NAIA season. She also hit the 'A' standard for national qualification into this year's NAIA Indoor National Championships. Rowland then took home first place as a member of the 4x400m relay team, clocking a national qualifying time of 3:51.58.
Bellamy, a senior from St. Louis, Missouri, broke her own school record in the long jump with a leap of 5.80 meters, finishing first in the event. Additionally, Bellamy finished second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.85 seconds. She has now qualified for nationals in the high jump, long jump, and the pentathlon.
Central will next return to action at the Alexis Jarrett Invitational Saturday, Jan. 10 in Columbia, Mo.
