Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Track and Field program began their outdoor campaign by hosting the CMU Open Saturday afternoon at Davis Field and Hairston Track.
For the CMU women, Zyaire Robinson placed second in the 100m dash at 12.53 seconds. Zaria Jones finished second in the 100m hurdles in 15.60 seconds while Aroa Carballo also placed second in the 200m dash in 25.87 seconds.
Aliyaha Heron crossed the finish line of the 400m run in 1:00.63. Shannon O'Neil won the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.87, as did Maria Burgos in the 1500m run at 5:10.76.
In the field events, Kali Brown took home first place in both the discus (39.75m) and hammer throw (44.44m). Maria Sahagun placed second in the long jump (5.32m) and Ta'Mya Davis finished second in the triple jump with a jump of 11.11 meters.
For the CMU men, Hunter Cary won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 15.25 seconds. Logan Bass took home first place in the 400m hurdles in 55.75 seconds.
David Ceballos won the 800m run in 1:57.10 and Kyle Newberry finished third in the 3000m run, crossing the finish line in 9:08.52.
Colder Evans placed second in the discus (48.74m), and fourth in both the hammer (51.04m), and shot put (15.98m). Brayton Stephenson finished second in the shot put with a toss of 16.88 meters, surpassing the 'A' standard for qualification for this year's NAIA Outdoor Championships.
Sam Thomas earned second place in the long jump with a jump of 6.69 meters. Ethan Smith finished second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.10 meters.
Azaan Stoughtenborough placed second in the triple jump with a jump of 13.53 meters.
The 4x100m relay team of Adam Trachsel, Charles Young, Sam Thomas, and Tristan Boyce rounded out the day with a first place finish in the event, clocking a time of 41.88 seconds.
Central will next compete at the Miner Invitational, a two-day meet hosted by Missouri S&T, beginning Friday, March 21 in Rolla, Missouri.
