Kansas City, Mo. - Central Methodist sophomore thrower Baylee Beard was named the Heart Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office Monday. 

Beard joins a list of 13 CMU athletes that have been named Heart Track & Field Athletes of the Week in 2023-24. 

The native of Centralia, Missouri competed in the Culver-Stockton College Invite last Saturday. She won both the shot put and hammer throw events, earning a first-place finish in the hammer with a mark of 54.92m and the shot put with a toss of 13.12m. 

Additionally, Beard broke the school record and hit the 'A' standard in the hammer, and placed second in the javelin with a throw of 36.38 meters.
