New Orleans, La. - CMU Director of Cross Country and Track & Field, Kenny Anderson, was named the USTFCCCA South Central Women's Outdoor Regional Coach of the Year.
This completes the sweep of regional awards for Anderson in 2023, as he was also named the Women's Regional Indoor Coach of the Year back in February.
The honor also comes on the heals of Anderson being named the Heart Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year, after leading the women to their first-ever Heart Outdoor Conference Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Altogether, his squad broke six program records and one conference record at the championships.
For the CMU women, there are 10 qualifiers that will compete at the NAIA National Championships in Marion, Ind. this coming week, including four that are nationally ranked in the Top 10 of their respective events.
Those athletes are; Gizel Clayton (No. 2, 100 Hurdles), Renee Finke (No. 4, High Jump), Tre'breh Scott (No. 7, 100 Hurdles), and Dayana Montenegro (No. 10, 400). In addition the 4x400m relay team of Scott, Montenegro, Sakoya Johnson, and Kjirsten Guildford are ranked No. 8 in the country.
In just three seasons with Central, Anderson has compiled the following accolades; three-time South Central Regional Women's Coach of the Year (2022 & 2023), three-time Heart Women's Indoor Coach of the Year (2021, 2022, & 2023), and two-time Heart Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year (2021 & 2023).
