Murray, Ken. - The Central Methodist Track & Field program took a group of athletes to the Margaret Simmons Invitational this weekend in Murray, Ken.
The event, hosted by Murray State, served as the outdoor season opener for the group.
Gizel Clayton broke the school record in the 100m Hurdles in a time of 13.83 seconds. The time is currently the best in all of the NAIA. Teammate Tre'breh Scott placed third in the same event in 14.22 seconds.
Both times hit the 'A' standard for the NAIA National Championships.
Jessica Bailey finished third in the 400m Hurdles in 1:06.80, and Dayana Montenegro hit the 'B' standard in the 400m in 57.12.
The 4x400m relay team of Scott, Montenegro, Kjirsten Guilford and Sakoya Johnson picked up right where they left off during indoor, breaking the school record in the event in a time of 3:49.98. The quartet also punched their ticket to outdoor nationals, hitting the 'A' standard.
On the men's side, Adam Trachsel placed fourth in the 400m in a time of 52.33. Trachsel, along with Curtis Johns, Mohammed Nyaoga, and Adrian Watson won the 4x100m relay.
Watson placed second in the 400m hurdles in a time of 54.96.
Central will next host the CMU Invite this coming weekend beginning Friday, March 31 at 10:00 a.m. at Davis Field.
