Kansas City, Mo. - After a stellar showing this past weekend, Central Methodist freshman thrower Baylee Beard was named the Heart Women's Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office Monday.
The native of Centralia, Mo. posted two second-place finishes at the UCM Mule Relays in both the women's shot put and weight throw.
In the shot, Beard placed second out of 31 competitors with a toss of 13.51m, hitting the 'A' standard for the NAIA National Championships.
In addition, she also took home second in the weight throw, with a toss of 17.04m. The throw broke the school record and hit the NAIA 'A' Standard of qualification. Beard is currently ranked in the Top 10 nationally in both events.
Beard and the Eagles will next compete in the Bearcat Invite beginning Friday, Feb. 3 in Maryville, Mo.
