New Orleans, La. - After a strong beginning to their 2022-23 Indoor campaign, the Central Methodist Women's Track & Field program is rated No. 5 in the first edition of the NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field Rating Index.
It marks the highest national rating for the team in program history. Their previous best was No. 14. CMU is also currently the No. 1 team in the South Central Regional rankings with 429.49 points.
In the national ratings, Indiana Tech leads the way ranked at No. 1, followed by No. 2 Concordia (Neb.), No. 3 William Carey (Miss.), and No. 4 Huntingon (Ind.).
Central owns eight top-10 marks nationally, five of which are in the top five. CMU's best effort to date is the No. 4×400-meter relay team, which ran the event in a time of 3:52.52 at the Crimson and Gold Invitational in Pittsburg, Kan. back on Dec. 11.
As it stands today, Central has seen 12 Eagles hit qualifying marks in their respective events. They include; Tre'breh Scott (60mH), Gizel Clayton (60mH, 60m & 200), Dayana Montenegro (600m), Kjirsten Guilford (600m), Delaney Miller (High Jump), Baylee Beard (Shot Put & Weight Throw), Karli Wolfe (Weight Throw), Yanira Paninka (3000m RW), and the 4x400m relay team made up of Montenegro, Scott, Sakoya Johnson, and Guilford.
The Eagles will next participate in the UCM Mule Relays beginning Friday, Jan. 27 at 4:00 p.m. in Warrensburg, Mo.
