Jefferson City, Mo. - The Central Methodist outdoor track and field programs posted strong finishes at the Lincoln University Open Saturday in Jefferson City, Mo.
The women's program scored 122 total points to earn a second-place team finish out of 13 teams. CMU's men tallied 63 points to place third out of 14 teams.
On the women's side, freshman Sadie Heisner won the pole vault with a final mark of 3.65 meters, good enough to hit the 'A' standard to qualify for nationals. She also won the triple jump with a jump of 11.31 meters.
Calyssa Plymell posted a third place finish in the javelin, setting a new school record of 37.72 meters. Kaitlyn Weber won the long jump at 5.36 meters, followed by Sarah Johnson in third and Jada Gaines in fifth. Weber also earned a second place finish in the triple jump, followed by Johnson in fourth.
Freshman Megan Aubuchon finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.58 meters. Jessica Bailey posted a second place finish in the 400m hurdles at 1:06.35.
For the men, senior thrower Taylor Bottomley competed in the discus where he placed second with a throw of 48.25 meters. Teammate Colder Evans just missed the podium with a fourth place standing at 45.56 meters. Bottomley also finished fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.60 meters.
Reise Way finished second in the javelin with a throw of 49.40 meters. Jonathan Brown won the high-jump with a mark of two meters even.
Central will next compete in the UCM relays Friday, April 15 in nearby Warrensburg, Mo.
