Baldwin City, Kan. - The Central Methodist track & field programs earned two more qualifiers to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships at the Zach Kindler Wildcat Invitational hosted by Baker University Saturday afternoon in Baldwin City, Kan.
Alex Ayala and Nehemiah Colyer finished 1-2 in the men's 400m hurdles with times of 54.50 and 54.53 respectively. Both of the new PRs hit the 'B' standard to qualify for the national championships later this month.
Brennan Moots claimed victory in the 110m hurdles in a time of 15.26 while Mohammed Nyaoga won the 400m dash with a final time of 49.29. Curtis Johns continues to run well this outdoor season, winning the 100m dash in a time of 10.87 seconds. Senior Hayden Hackman placed first in the pole vault with a final mark of 3.95 meters while fellow senior Taylor Bottomley won the shot put and came in second in the discus.
Abdulai Rashid set a new personal best in the long jump, finishing first with a final mark of 7.14 meters.
On the women's side, freshman Kailey Johnson improved her national qualifying mark in the 110m hurdles with a first-place finish in a new PR of 14.61. Johnson also placed second in the 200m dash in 25.52. Lilian Patterson finished fourth in the 5000m racewalk in a time of 32:21.28 while Dyana Montenegro won the 400m dash with a season's best 58.35.
Madeline Wieseman claimed victory in the 200m dash with a new season's best of 2:24.73. Keiara-Ashley Cunningham finished second in the 400m hurdles, while both Johnson and Mason Fitzgerald placed second and fourth in the 200m dash, including new personal bests of 54.50 and 54.53.
In the shot put, Victoria Olivarez competed and tallied a final mark of 10.15 meters, good enough for third place. She also placed third in the discus with a final toss of 36.02 meters.
Kaitlyn Weber compiled third-place finishes in both the long jump and triple jump.
