Warrensburg, Mo. - The Central Methodist outdoor track & field programs competed in two meets this past week, first the UCM Mule Relays hosted by the University of Central Missouri and then the Midwest Classic at Emporia State.
The Eagles took several athletes to the UCM Relays Friday, and the women's 4x100m relay team of Jada Gaines, Mason Fitzgerald, Kailey Johnson and Dyana Montenegro placed third in the event with a final time of 49.18. Johnson also won the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.93 seconds.
Kaitlyn Weber finished fourth in the long jump with a final mark of 4.95m and Keiara-Ashley Cunningham earned a second place standing in the 400m dash in 1:10.40.
For the men, junior Abdulai Rashid placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.62m, and freshman Brennan Moots won the 110m hurdles in a time of 15.31.
The Eagles then traveled to Emporia, Kan. to take part in the Midwest Classic hosted by Emporia State. Johnson posted a top two finish in the 100m hurdles with a final time of 14.98 seconds. The women's 4x100m relay team also finished third with a time of 49.17 seconds.
On the men's side, Rashid won the triple jump at 12.97m and Curtis Johns posted a new PR of 10.88 seconds in the 100m dash, good enough for third place.
Johns and Jacob Fritz, finished first and second in the men's 200m dash, both running personal bests of 21.71 and 21.86 seconds. Taylor Bottomley finished fourth in the discus with a final toss of 45.35 meters and the 4x100m relay team of Rashid, Johns, Mohammed Nyaoga and Nehemiah Colyer finished second. In addition, Nyaoga finished in the top three of the 400m dash.
Both teams will next compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships May 7-8 in Des Moines, Iowa hosted by Grand View University.
