Lamoni, Iowa – The men and women's indoor track and field teams continue to put up solid performances this season, returning to Lamoni, Iowa for the final meet of the Graceland Indoor Winter Series Friday afternoon.
On the women's side, freshman Kailey Johnson won the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.91 seconds. Junior Abbie Hale won the 400m dash with a time of 1:02.14, over two seconds faster than the second place finisher. Antoinette Flowers and Jada Gaines placed second and fourth on the 55m dash with times of 7.33 and 7.49 respectively. The 200m dash featured four Eagles in the Top-6, as Johnson came in second and Flowers, Mason Fitzgerald and Hale came in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Madeline Weiseman hit a new season best in the 800m with a time of 2:29.95, good enough for second place. The women's 4x800 team of Katherine Bangert, Katelyn Moeller, Lisa Sauter and Lilian Patterson won the race with a time of 11:17.52. Sarah King and Patterson finished third and fourth on the 3000m race walk with time of 21:46.42 and 22:47.50. The women's distance medley team of Bangert, Moeller, Sauter and Wieseman finished second with a time of 14:07.01.
The women's long jump was dominated by the Eagles with Katelyn Weber, Gaines and Sarah Johnson coming in first, second and third respectively. Jasmine Evers and Karli Wolfe finished the women's shot put in third and fourth place with final marks of 11.39m and 10.99m. Evers threw 14.40m in the women's weight throw, good enough for second place, while Weber won the triple jump with a mark of 10.28m.
On the men's side, Curtis Johns came in second on the 55m dash with a time of 6.55. He also finished third on the 200m dash with a time of 22.93. Brennan Moots came in fourth on the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.07, a new personal best. Nehemiah Colyer finished second on the 400m dash with a time of 52.67. Hayden Hackman and Jack Schiffhauerr came second and third on the 600m with times of 1:28.37 and 1:28.64.
On the men's 5k, Shawn Kiptoo finished with a time of 15:54.07, good enough for second place. The men's 4x400 team of Brock Jackson Khiry Rolan, Alexander Ayalaand Moots, finished third place with a time of 3:35.46. The men's distance medley team of Exavier Coburn, Zy'Shonne Cowans, Tyler Perkins and Schiffhauer came in second with a time of 12:16.53.
Senior Jacob Fritz hit a season best of 1.96m in the men's high jump, good enough for third place. Abdulai Rashid finished the men's long jump in fourth place with a mark of 6.69m. Robert Jerrick and Parker Yager tied for first place on the men's pole vault with a mark of 4.21m.
Taylor Bottomley continues to impress during his senior season as he finished in the top spot for both men's shot put and weight throw with marks of 16.66m and 18.09 respectively.
Both teams will be back on the track Feb. 12-13, as the compete in the Gorilla Indoor Classic in Pittsburg, Kan.
