Barreto Tabbed as NAIA Second Team All-American

Barreto Tabbed as NAIA Second Team All-American

Kansas City, Mo. - Central Methodist women's soccer junior forward Mariana Barreto was named an NAIA Second Team All-American by the national office on Tuesday.

It is the first All-America honor for Barreto in her career. She is the first Eagle to earn All-America honors for the program since both Alicia Zamora and Kirstine Lykke were recognized in 2023.

The native of Valencia, Venezuela, had a stellar junior campaign for the Eagles, playing and starting in all 21 matches. She finished the year with a team-leading 24 goals as well as five assists.

Barreto recorded six game winners as well as seven games of two or more goals, which included four hat tricks.

For her efforts in conference play, she was named both the Heart Co-Player of the Year and Heart Offensive Player of the Year while landing on the Heart All-Conference First Team for the third-straight season.

Barreto was named the Offensive Player of the Week four times over the course of 2025 and earned National Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 9.

She captained her team to a 16-3-2 record, a 12-0-1 mark in Heart of America play, and Central's seventh Heart Regular Season Championship in the last nine seasons. Additionally, the Eagles made their ninth consecutive trip to the NAIA National Tournament.
