St. Louis, Mo. - The Central Methodist women's soccer team found themselves back in the win column Wednesday evening as they traveled to face the Missouri Baptist Spartans for a midweek non-conference match.
After a 0-0 draw in their last match, the Eagles were eager to get back to their usual scoring ways.
That did not take long as they opened the scoring in the 10th minute of action. Off of a corner kick taken from Paula Castro, Lacey Ann Murray put the ball in the back of the net to notch her fourth goal of the season.
With the away side down 1-0, Maja Henriksen doubled up their lead, scoring her first goal of the season in the 29th minute of play.
The Eagles headed into the halftime break with that lead but were not satisfied with just two goals. No more than 15 minutes after coming out of the locker room, the No. 4 ranked team in the nation kept proving why they were ranked so highly.
Leading goalscorer, Kirstine Lykke, added a couple more goals to the stat sheet in the 56th and 61st minute. Both Nerea Munoz and Renee Berak assisted on the goals.
A 4-0 lead for CMU was still not enough, as Lacey Ann Murray also tallied her second goal of the game. The forward increased her side's lead to 5-0 in the 67th minute with her fifth goal of the year.
Sara Garcia wanted to continue the scoring party for the Eagles, scoring her first goal of the season in the 76th minute.
Central's offense finished the evening with 19 total shots, with 14 of those coming on frame for the Eagles. MBU tallied just eight shots with two coming on goal.
On the defensive end for CMU, freshman goalkeeper Madison Priebe registered her fourth clean sheet of the year. Both Pribe and her defensive line have been impeccable this season, allowing just one goal through five matches played.
The Eagles will return home this upcoming Saturday, Sept. 7, as they welcome in Jamestown University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm at Davis Field.
