Women's Soccer Sweeps Heart Weekly Awards

Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodisdt Women's Soccer duo of Mariana Barreto and Candela Blanco Esteban took home Heart Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors, which were announced by the conference office Monday. 

Barreto was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Blanco Esteban was named Defensive Player of the Week. 

Barreto, a native of Valencia, Venezuela, tallied her second hat trick of the year with three goals against Park, leading the Eagles to a 3-1 win over the Pirates. 

Barreto has now scored 10 goals in 12 matches this season in addition to five assists, both currently the Eagles' offense. 

Blanco Esteban picked up six saves against Park. She has recorded 28 saves so far this season. 

Central is set to host Culver-Stockton College Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 5:00 p.m. at Davis Field.
