Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Soccer program punched its ticket to the Heart Tournament Championship with a 3-0 victory over Clarke Tuesday night at Davis Field.
With the win, the Eagles advance to the Heart Title game for the fifth straight season, improving their overall record to 17-2-1. Clarke finishes its tournament run with a 12-6-2 mark.
It was a scoreless opening 43 minutes of play, before sophomore midfielder Marcella Helena put Central on the board with a goal in the 44th minute.
Just four minutes into the second half, Roneisha Frank pushed Central's lead to 2-0 off the assist from Laura Riesenbeck.
The final goal for the Eagles came off the foot of Helena in the 69th minute. All three of Central's goal were a result of set pieces.
CMU finished the evening outshooting the Pride 15-4, including five shots on goal compared to Clarke's two.
Helena led the way with three total shots, including a brace for her 14th and 15th goals of the season.
Manuela Polachini, Giulia Rodrigues, and Alicia Zamora also finished the match with two shots apiece. Frank recorded her team-leading 18th goal in the opening minutes of the second half.
Sophomore goalkeeper Max De Armas Colombo earned her fifth win of the year, playing all 90 minutes between the posts and recording two saves.
Central will take on the winner of No. 2 Missouri Valley College and No. 3 MidAmerica Nazarene University in the championship match Friday, Nov. 11 at 5:00 p.m. at Davis Field.
CMU is seeking its fourth consecutive Heart Tournament Championship with a victory.
