Fayette, Mo. - The No. 8 Central Methodist Women's Soccer program breezed past Heart opponent Park University, 4-0 Saturday night at Davis Field.
CMU improves to 10-2-1 overall and 6-0-1 in Heart play. The Pirates drop to 5-4-2 overall and 3-4-0 in conference action.
Central held the offensive torch for much of the match, firing off 11 first-half shots. The Pirates were unable to fire a shot until the second half of play, and the first goal the match came via an own goal by Park in the 15th minute of play.
Coming out of the halftime break, the Eagles' offense continued to apply pressure on Park's defense. Senior forward Roneisha Frank scored within the first minute of play in the second half unassisted, pushing Central's lead to 2-0.
Just five minutes later, Frank tallied her second goal of the evening and CMU's third goal of the match on the assist from Marcella Helena. Frank struck again with a goal in the 59th minute of play to secure a hat trick. She was assisted by both Sandra Jakobsen and Maria Cervello.
Frank led the Eagles with three goals on nine shots including eight on goal. Helena also lended six shots throughout the match, with three coming on goal. Manuela Polachini, Laura Riesenbeck, Alicia Zamora, Jakobsen, Jade Perrin, Celine Witt, Samantha Minkes, and Stine Lie all contributed to the offensive efforts with at least one shot.
Central's defense held Park to zero shots in the first half and only one in the second. The Eagles finished the evening with 28 total shots, including 18 on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Judit Gonzalez Oliveras earned her 10th win of the year between the posts, securing her sixth shut out of the year.
The Eagles will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 15 at Davis Field for a Heart matchup againt the Mount Mercy Mustangs. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
