Dubuque, Iowa - The No. 6 Central Methost Women's Soccer program cruised to a convincing 7-1 victory over the Clarke Pride Saturday afternoon in Dubuque, Iowa.
With the victory, Central improves to 6-2 and 2-0 in the Heart, while the Pride fall to 5-2-1 and 1-1 in conference play.
The first score of the match came in just the fourth minute as Sandra Jakobsen tallied her sixth goal of the season unassisted. Marcella Helena padded Central's lead to 2-0 in the 11th minute on the assist from Laura Riesenbeck. Less than 30 seconds later, Helena scored again, with assists coming from both Riesenbeck and Roneisha Frank.
Trailing 3-0, the Pride's offense broke through in the 14th minute on a score from Jamie Albertson to trim the lead to 3-1. Frank would respond not long after to push the Eagles' lead to 4-1.
CMU would enter the locker room with a 4-1 lead at the halftime break. Central would pepper the Pride defense with three second half goals beginning with Riesenbeck in the 56th minute. Frank (68th) and Cerys Pinchard (84th) sealed the victory late in the second, giving Central a 7-1 victory.
Central's offense cruised past Clarke, racking up 22 total shots compared to nine for the Pride. Jakobsen led the CMU attack with seven total shots, including six on goal. Frank added six shots and Helena earned a brace with two goals score on three shots taken.
Judit Gonzalez Oliveras earned her sixth win of the year, recording two saves in a full 90 minutes betweent the posts.
Central will make the short trip west to Marshall, Mo. to face rival Missouri Valley College Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 5:00 p.m.
