Fayette, Mo. - The No. 3 Central Methodist Women's Soccer program completed a 4-0 shut out of William Woods University Wednesday night at Davis Field.
With the victory, Central improves to 3-1 overall, while the Owls fall to 0-3. Prior to kickoff, the Eagles honored the 2021 team with a ring ceremony, recognizing their run to the NAIA National Semifinals last season.
Junior forward Sandra Jakobsen started the scoring for Central, collecting her fourth goal of the season in the 15th minute. Leading 1-0 coming out of the halftime break, the Eagles scored three second-half goals, including two in the span of four minutes. Celine Witt (54') and Marcella Helena (58') pushed CMU's lead to 3-0.
Grace Faherty finished the evening with a goal in the 67th minute, making the final score 4-0 in favor of the Eagles.
Central's offense was in control from start to finish, firing off 31 total shots, with more than half coming on goal. Witt paced CMU with six shots, including three on goal, followed by Helena with five shots.
Maria Cervello and Jakobsen each chipped in four shots. Judit Gonzalez Oliveras earned her third win of the year, playing 79 minutes between the posts. Max De Armas Colombo saw Central through to victory in the final 11 minutes of play.
The Eagles are slated to face No. 7 Marian University Saturday, Sept. 3 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo. It will mark Central's third Top-10 matchup in their last four contests.
