Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist women's soccer team punched its ticket to the Heart Tournament Championship match with a 1-0 shut out victory over Baker in the semifinals Wednesday night at Davis Field.
Central will make its fourth-straight trip to the title game, and improve their overall record to 18-1.
The lone goal of the match came in the 26th minute, setup on a free-kick from Laura Riesenbeck. Riesenbeck sent a ball to Andrea Villar who was sprinting towards goal, and flicked the ball on to Marcella Helena who scored.
Central's defense held the Wildcats to only two second half shots and one on goal, earning their 16th shut out of 2021. The offense finished the evening with 23 shots including 10 on goal.
Helena and Villar each tallied four shots, while Sandra Jakobsen and Roneisha Frank recorded three shots apiece. Goalkeeper Max De Armas Colombo earned her third win of the season, playing all 90 minutes in between the posts and recording one save.
Central will meet rival Missouri Valley College in the title game for the second consecutive season, having defeated the Vikings in last year's final 1-0.
The game will be play Saturday, Nov. 13 at Davis Field, with game time still set for 6:00 p.m.
