Kansas City, Mo. – The Central Methodist women's soccer team jumped from No. 11 to No. 9 in this week's NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll, announced by the national office Wednesday afternoon.
Other Heart programs mentioned in the Top 25 include; No. 19 Baker, No. 22 Missouri Valley, (RV) Benedictine, and (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene.
The Eagles are winners of five of their six games this spring, including a convincing 2-1 win over No. 5 Marian and a 2-0 win over No. 15 Grace in late March.
Central leads the NAIA in four statistical categories including total assists (77), goals scored (96), assists per game (4.28) and goals per game (5.33).
2020 Heart Player of the Year Anika Kallash is tops in the nation in assists per game (1.000) and is No. 2 in total goals (25), goals per game (1.79), total points (64), points per game (4.57) and shots on goal per game (4.000).
Sandra Jakobsen sits at No. 3 in total points (54), and No. 5 in total goals (20). Kallash and Jakobsen share the No. 4 spot in total assists (14).
CMU is the No. 1 seed going into the Heart Conference Tournament and will face No. 8 seed Grand View University on Saturday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. on Davis Field.
