Eagles move to No. 11 in second NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top-25 poll

Eagles move to No. 11 in second NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top-25 poll

Kansas City, Mo. – The Central Methodist women's soccer team landed at No. 11 in the latest NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top-25 Poll, as announced by the national office Wednesday morning.

The Eagles are currently 13-3 overall and are coming off a narrow 4-3 loss to St. Ambrose in Davenport on March 14.

Other Heart programs mentioned in the poll are; No. 15 Baker, No. 21 Missouri Valley, (RV) Benedictine and (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene.

The Eagles will try to bounce back from the loss against SAU with a matchup against No. 3 Marian Friday, March 19 and No. 13 Grace March 27. Both games are set to take place at the Missouri Rush Soccer Complex in O'Fallon, Mo. CMU will then turn their focus to the Heart Conference Tournament followed by the opening round of the NAIA National Championship.

Central is No. 1 in the NAIA team goals scored (92) and total assists (74). CMU also sits in the Top-5 in four other statistical categories. Senior forward Anika Kallash leads the nation in goals scored (25), total assists (14) and total points (64). Sandra Jakobsen shares the lead with Kallash in total assists (14) and is ranked No. 2 in total points (54) and No. 3 in total goals (20).

To view the poll methodology and the complete poll, please see below.

Poll Methodology

  • The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low ratings) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes."
