Davenport, Iowa – The No. 9 Central Methodist women's soccer team suffered their third loss of the season Sunday afternoon, falling to St. Ambrose by a score of 4-3 in Davenport, Iowa.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 13-3 overall while the Bees improve to a 5-4. The four goals allowed are the most given up by an Eagles' team since October of 2016.
The Bees offense controlled the first half, scoring four goals to open up a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Central entered the second half with a different pace, as Sandra Jakobsen scored the Eagles' first goal of the game less than five minutes in. Zoe Jessen scored the Eagles' second goal after finishing a cross from Jakobsen, and scored again with less than 10 minutes left in the match. However, CMU ran out of time, as St. Ambrose held on in the final moments for a narrow 4-3 victory.
Jakobsen led the team with six shots with one finding the back of the net, as well as an assist. Jessen followed with three shots and two goals while Nely Martinez recorded three shots and one being on goal. Cobollo and Elly Boothe finished the game with two shots a piece. The senior defender also added one assist.
As a team, Central finished with 21 shots with 10 being on goal while St. Ambrose had six shots and four being on goal, of which all found the back of the net.
The Eagles will be back in action against No. 3 Marian Friday, March 19 at 5:00 p.m. in O'Fallon, Mo.
