Kansas City, Mo. – The No. 9 Central Methodist women's soccer team defeated No. 17 Oklahoma Wesleyan University by a score of 2-0 Wednesday afternoon in Overland Park, Kan. Central moves to 13-2 record while OKWU falls to 10-2 overall.
CMU started off fast in the first half and in the third minute, Nely Martinez crossed the ball into the box and found Anika Kallash who fired it past the keeper making the score 1-0. The Eagles added their second goal shortly after, as Andrea Villar found Sandra Jakobsen by herself in the box for the score.
Central was able to control the rest of the first half and also the second half. Despite both teams having goal scoring opportunities, Central went to earn their 13th win of the season.
Roneisha Frank led the team in shots with three with one being on goal. Villar and Zoe Jessen both had two shots with one being on target. Villar also added one assist. Kallash and Jakobsen each had one shot that found the back of the net. Martinez finished the game with one assist.
Sheila Sanchez played the full 90 minutes and finished the game with one save. CMU's defense was able to keep OKWU to five shots in the game with only one being on goal.
The Eagles will be back on the field Sunday, March 14 for a matchup against St. Ambrose in Davenport, Iowa at 4:00 p.m.
