St. Louis, Mo. - Behind a hat trick from senior forward Annika Kallash, the No. 9 Central Methodist women's soccer team cruised to a 6-1 victory over Missouri Baptist University, 6-1, Wednesday night in St. Louis, Mo.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 12-2 overall, while the Trojans fall to 5-2.
It didn't take the Eagles' offense long to find its rhythm, as Kallash found the back of the net in the 11th minute of the game with the assists coming from Andrea Villar and Sandra Jakobsen. Less than six minutes later, Kallash recorded her second goal of the match courtesy of Elly Boothe.
Junior Zoe Jessen closed out the half with the Eagles' third goal in the 36th minute. Central entered the halftime break with a 3-0 advantage over the Trojans.
Sandra Jakobsen opened the second half with back-to-back goals in the 49th and 54th minutes, pushing CMU's lead to 5-0. Despite Missouri Baptist scoring in the 68th minute, Kallash closed out the match with her third goal of the evening just 10 minutes later.
Kallash led the offense with three goals scored on eight shots, with five coming on frame and two assists. Jakobsen followed with a brace, including five shots taken and four on goal in addition to two assists. Jessen collected a goal on just two shots, both being on frame.
Villar and Boothe each dished out an assist, and as a unit, the Eagles' offense outshot MBU, 27-4.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sheila Sanchez earned her 12th win of the season, picked up two saves in a full 90 minutes between the posts.
CMU continues spring play with a neutral site matchup against Oklahoma Wesleyan Wednesday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m. in Overland Park, Kan.
