Fayette, Mo. - For the third time this season, Central Methodist women's soccer swept the Heart Player of the Week awards, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
The Eagles won their second straight Heart conference regular-season title after a pair of wins against Grand View and Clarke University this past week. Sophomore Laura Riesenbeck took home her third defender of the week honor, as the Beverstedt, Germany native led the Central backline in giving up only three shots with one coming on frame in the 2-0 win over Grand View. In the Eagles' convincing win over Clarke, the backline gave up only three shots, and two on goal. Through the two wins, Central allowed on average three total shots and 1.5 on goal.
Senior forward Anika Kallash earned her third offensive player of the week award after a stellar performance against Clarke. The Troy, Mo. Scored both goals in the 2-0 win over Grand View. Against Clarke, Kallash scored five goals and had one assist. She currently sits at No. 1 in the NAIA and in the conference for total assists (12), and total goals (21). In addition, Kallash is now the all-time leading scorer in program history with 77 goals in 72 games. She also becomes the program's career leader in assists, collecting 33 total during her four-year playing career.
The Eagles head into the Heart conference tournament as the No. 1 overall seed and will host in the opening round beginning on April 3, 2021.
