Des Moines, Iowa – The Central Methodist women's soccer team traveled to Des Moines, Iowa to face Grand View University, defeating the Vikings by a score of 2-0 Wednesday afternoon.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 9-2 overall while the Vikings fall to 5-6-1.
The lone goal of the half was scored by senior forward Anika Kallash, as she headed the ball into the net after freshman Sandra Jakobsen crossed the ball to the top of the box.
The Eagles collected 11 shots in the first half with seven coming on frame, while the Central defense didn't give up a single Viking shot.
CMU matched its pace of the first half heading into the final frame. With 26 minutes left, Andrea Villar picked up a ball in the midfield and found Kallash, who fired the ball past the keeper to score her second goal of the night and giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles finished the game with 22 shots and 13 on frame. Elly Boothe and Villar led the Eagles with four shots with two on goal apiece. Kallash and Maria Cervello followed with three shots each. Villar and Jakobsen each finished the match with an assist and sophomore goalkeeper Sheila Sanchez played all 90 minutes in goal, recording two saves.
The Eagles will travel to Dubuque, Iowa for their last game of the 2020 fall season against Clarke on Saturday, November 14th at 1:30 p.m.
