Canton, Mo. – The Central Methodist women's soccer team traveled to Canton, Mo. for a matchup against Culver-Stockton, defeating the Wildcats by a score of 3-0 Wednesday afternoon.
The Eagles improve their record to 7-2 overall and in conference play, while CS-C falls to 3-4-1.
Central posted 15 shots, with seven being on goal in the first half. Andrea Villar, Anika Kallash and Alicia Zamora led the offense with three shots apiece, while the Wildcats were held without a shot throughout the first period.
CMU started the second half with a lot of pace and in the 51st minute, Sandra Jakobsen deflected a ball that landed at the feet of Kallash. The senior then fired the ball past the keeper to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. With 15 minutes left in the match, Elly Boothe sent a cross into Sara Cobollo who put her head on the ball for the second score of the day.
The final goal of the day came in the 84th minute as Jakobsen dribbled past two Wildcats defenders, sending a cross into Boothe to put the Eagles up 3-0.
Central finished the game with 33 shots and 18 coming on frame. Kallash led the Eagles with seven shots with four being on goal, including her ninth on the year. Boothe and Villar followed with five shots and two on frame respectively. Boothe finished the match with one goal and one assist, while Jakobsen led the Eagles with two assists, and added three shots.
The CMU defense recorded their sixth shutout of the season, giving up only one shot taken to Culver's defense.
Central will be back on Davis Field for the final home game of the fall on Saturday, November 7 at 3:30 p.m. against Mount Mercy.
