LINDSBORG, Kan. – The No. 21 ranked Central Methodist women's soccer team extended their hot start to 6-0 after beating Bethany College 3-1 on the road.
The Eagles thoroughly handled the possession time and pace of the game as they outshot the Swedes 19-3 and holding them without a shot for the first 35 minutes of play. The balanced offensive attack by CMU saw five different players recording shots on goal in the game.
Nely Martinez (JR/Collado Villalba, Spain) got things started in the first half after she netted a pass from Judith Sainz (SR/Pamplona, Spain) for the 1-0 lead. A hard foul in the box by the Swedes gave Sainz her second penalty kick opportunity of the season, which she buried with ease to extend the lead in the 59th minute.
Bethany answered after a free kick from outside the 18 found the foot of a Swede in the box, but Anika Kallash (JR/Troy, Mo.) built the cushion back up with a goal in the 83rd minute that was assisted by Sainz.
Sheila Sanchez (FR/Castellon, Spain) had three saves to earn here sixth win of the year in the box.
Central will return to action on Saturday to host William Woods in their final non-conference game of the season. Match time is set for 5 PM on Davis Field.
