Eagles Dominate Lindenwood-Belleville with Offensive Attack

FAYETTE, Mo. – The (RV) Central Methodist women's soccer team put on an offensive showcase in a 5-1 non-conference victory over Lindenwood University-Belleville at home on Wednesday evening.

The Eagles wasted little time in taking control of the game as Anika Kallash (JR/Troy, Mo.) turned a pass from Nely Martinez (JR/Collado Villalba, Spain) in the game's first goal just over seven minutes after the opening whistle. Thirty minutes later, Judith Sainz (SR/Pamplona, Spain) notched an assist as she connected with Joana Villanova (JR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) in the box to give the team a 2-0 lead at the half.

Kallash popped in her second goal of the game on a deflection off the keeper that was initiated on an attack from Zoe Jessen (SO/League City, Texas). Martinez netted her first goal of the season just three minutes later after a pass from Andrea Villar (JR/Madrid, Spain) placed her in a one-on-one situation.

The Lynx got on the board in the 70th minute after an awkward deflection, but Central wasn't done yet. At the 84th minute mark, Maria Cerevello hit Elly Boothe (JR/Silex, Mo.) on a through pass down the middle of the field which she placed in the back of the net for the final goal of the evening.

The Eagles launched a barrage of offensive attempts at the Lynx, finishing the game with 34 shots (21 on frame) while holding the LBU to just six tries. Freshman goalkeeper Sheila Sanchez (FR/Castellon, Spain) secured the win with a pair of saves.

Central Methodist will return to action on Sunday, September 1st, at Davis Field. The squad will host No. 17 Cardinal Stritch with the start time set for 12 PM.
