KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that 614 women's soccer student athletes have been named to the 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete team, Friday afternoon.
Among the 614 student-athletes whom were honored, Central Methodist had two athletes named. Rachel Topliss (JR/Walsall, England) currently sports a 3.95 GPA and Michelle Raines (JR/Hawk Point, Mo.) sports a 3.88.
"I'm super proud of both Rachel and Michelle on this accomplishment. It is a great honor, and they both have had great playing careers on the field, while keeping their grades very high," stated head coach Dan Schmidlin, on his student-athlete's academic performance.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
