OLATHE, Kan. - The No. 10 nationally ranked Central Methodist women's soccer team remained unbeaten in Heart of America Athletic Conference play with a 0-0 tie against (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene Wednesday afternoon at Pioneer Field.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Ashlynn Freeman (SO/Moberly, Mo.) and MidAmerica Nazarines Anesa Curic each tallied six saves.
• Judith Sainz (SO/Pamplona, Spain) lead the Eagles with three shots and three on goal.
• Rachel Slack paced the Pioneers offense on four shots with two on goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the 14th minute of the first half, Central Methodist had its first opportunity on goal when Sainz put a shot on goal, but it was saved by Curic.
• MidAmerica Nazarine had a shot on goal in the 25th minute of the first half, but came up short as Freeman collected the save.
• At the end of the first half, score remained 0-0.
• Sainz had two shots on goal in the 72nd and 75th minute of play, however both were gathered up by Curic.
• Through the rest of the second half, MidAmerica Nazarine placed its last shot on goal with eight minutes remaining in the match.
• At the end of regulation, the score remained 0-0.
• In the first overtime, MidAmerica Nazarine outshot Central Methodist four to two.
• In the second overtime, Central Methodist lead with one corner kick and one shot keeping MidAmerica Nazarine quiet with no attempts. Neither team was able to find the game-winner throughout the 110 minutes for a final score of 0-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Pioneers led the match in corner kicks with eight, while the Eagles tallied three.
• In both overtime periods,the Pioneers outshot the Eagles 4-3.
• Both teams ended the match with six shots on goal.
UP NEXT
• The Eagles will return to action this Saturday, October 7th, when they travel to Lamoni, Iowa and continue Heart play to face Graceland University. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
