Boothe Earns Heart Offensive Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ---- Freshman Elly Boothe of the No. 13 nationally ranked Central Methodist women's soccer team was honored by the Heart of America Athletic Conference Monday afternoon, by being named the Offensive Player of the Week, after earning her first career hat-trick.

Boothe added three goals in a 6-0 victory over Mount Mercy on Saturday, and added an additional goal on Tuesday in a 4-0 win over Evangel. On the year, she currently is third on the team with seven goals, and has one assist. Her seven goals this season is good enough to be ranked 47th in the nation.

Coming off a career week, Boothe has been complimentary to a high-powered Central Methodist attack that is ranked third in the NAIA for total goals with 42. The team also ranks third in the nation in assists with 28, seventh in goals per game (4.67), eighth in assists per game (3.11), 21st in shots per game (21), and 38th in shots on goal per game (10.78).

"I am very proud of the week Elly and the whole team had. She got us started with a nice goal a couple of minutes into the second half of the Mount Mercy game, and ended with a hat-trick. This continues to show that our girls are playing good soccer, and we need to keep performing at a high level," head coach Dan Schmidlin stated on Boothe's recognition.

The women's soccer team will return to action on Tuesday, September 26, as they continue Heart play on the road at Avila University. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
