Hannibal, Mo. – For the second straight game, the Central Methodist University women's soccer team won and shutout their opponent by a final score of 7-0. Freshman goalkeeper Ashlynn Freeman (FR/Moberly, Mo.) has begun the year with back-to-back shutouts, not allowing a single goal to score in her 180 minutes of action.
With the victory Saturday, Central Methodist moves to 2-0 overall, while Hannibal-LaGrange University begins the year at 0-1.
Central jumped on the board first in the ninth minute, when freshman Judith Sainz (FR/Pamplona, Spain) connected on a pass from Kylie Thwing (FR/Troy, Mo.) to put CMU up 1-0. The goal for Sainz was her first of three on the night. In CMU's two games to begin the season, Judith Sainz has scored a team high five goals.
Nicki Noreen (SR/Bartlett, Ill.) would add to the scoresheet in the 19th minute, to put the Eagles up 2-0. That score would stand going into halftime.
In the second half, the Central Methodist offense scored in the 53rd, 60th, 63rd, 71st, and 87th minute. Sainz connected on the first two goals in the half, while Zendy Montalvo (SR/Des Moines, Iowa) finished the half with a goal and an assist.
