"This was a great experience for our girls to really see how many people struggle in life," said CMU head women's soccer coach Dan Schmidlin. "It shows them how thankful they should be for everything that they do have and that their parents have been able to provide them with. College is a great opportunity that not everyone gets, and it is nice to be reminded of that. This service saw the CMU women's soccer team demonstrating excellent teamwork off the field, as they assisted in packing 283 grocery bags in an assembly line approach."
The Fayette Food Pantry seeks to distribute hundreds of essential grocery items to the less fortunate, in order to aid with basic needs and necessities. This happens every other Thursday for a two-hour period. A lot of people show up to help with the packaging and distribution of the grocery items, including six members from the CMU women's soccer team.
"The women's soccer team was excited to offer their assistance in an attempt to make a difference in their community," continued Schmidlin.
The players conveyed that they were humbled by the opportunity and the fact that the coaching staff took part as well.
"CMU women's soccer team is excited to get back out there and give back to the community and has several other projects in the making for rest of the spring semester," added Schmidlin.
