�Postgame: Winschel | Bundren | DeanFAYETTE, Mo. - Six different Central Methodist University women's soccer players scored in Monday night's 7-0 rout of Benedictine University-Springfield at Davis Field on "Breast Cancer Awareness Night." The win was the largest for the Eagles (8-4) since defeating Harris-Stowe State University 9-0 on Sept. 8, 2010.
Central Methodist outshot the Bulldogs (0-12) 36-0 over the span of 90 minutes.
Kayla Leeser gave Central Methodist a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute off a Kelsey Vanzant cross into the box. The goal was the team-leading seventh of the season for the Saint Peters, Mo., native.
Vanzant, Jordie Retzlaff and Ashley Bundren each scored unassisted goals in a 14 minute span to push the margin to 4-0. Vanzant tallied her third goal of 2012 on a breakaway, beating goalkeeper Lindsay Taylor. Retzlaff scored her fourth goal of the campaign on a penalty kick before Bundren blasted her first collegiate goal in the back of the net in the 41st minute.
Erin Winschel scored the first of her match-high two goals in the 48th minute. After Fernanda Ramirez found an open Winschel, everyone on the field froze expecting an offside call, as Central Methodist was hit with 21 of them in the match. However, Winschel kept going before dribbling the ball around a diving Taylor and putting the ball in the back of the net.
With the help of Ramirez's second assist of the game, Winschel went top shelf from 30 yards out in the 54th minute to make the score 6-0. The goals were the first two of the season for the Saint Louis, Mo., product.
The onslaught continued in the 70th minute when Summer Dean added her name to the scoring summary. After two saves by Taylor, Dean found the nylon for her first goal for the Green and Black.
Goalkeepers Brittany Andert and Meredith Brick combined for the clean sheet.
Taylor made 20 saves in the match.
The Eagles held the edge in corner kicks, 10-0.
Central Methodist faces Avila University on Wednesday in a rescheduled Heart of America Athletic Conference match from last week. Kickoff from Davis Field is set for 6 p.m. CT. Due to the rescheduling, all spectators will be admitted free.
