Women's Soccer blitzes Ottawa, 4-0

FAYETTE, Mo. - Central Methodist University used three first-half goals and standout goalkeeping in a 4-0 shutout of Ottawa University in women's soccer action on Wednesday night at Davis Field.

Forward Lindie Adair scored the first two goals of the game for the Eagles (4-1) in the sixth and 10th minutes. The Boonville, Mo. native found the back of the net both times on headers off corner kicks served in by midfielder Shawn Beard. Adair now has a team-high five goals, with all five coming in the last two Central Methodist victories.

"We worked well off and on the ball and created a lot of different runs," Adair said. "The team as a whole played outstanding, and we got a very important win tonight."

Beard also assisted on the third goal of the match in the 25th minute. Midfielder Jordie Retzlaff scored her first collegiate goal on a header off a corner kick.

Forward Kayla Leeser added her name to the scoring summary in the 51st minute. She dribbled the ball past twoBrave (4-3)defenders before blasting a shot from 25 yards out over goalkeeper Kaitlyn Stinson's hands. The goal was Leeser's third of 2012.

Central Methodist goalkeepers Brittany Andert and Meredith Brick combined for the clean sheet. Each player recorded two saves.

Stinson had six saves for the visitors.

The Eagles outshot the Braves, 17-10. Central Methodist scored its first three goals before Ottawa recorded its third shot of the contest with 10:36 remaining in the first half.

The Eagles will hit the road for six-straight games, beginning with Hannibal-LaGrange University on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. CT.
