Lady Eagles Drop Final Home Match to Lindenwood

Lady Eagles Drop Final Home Match to Lindenwood
The Central Methodist University women's soccer team surrendered a goal in the 61st minute and was unable to answer as Lindenwood University beat the Lady Eagles 1-0 in CMU's final home match of the season.

After playing to a scoreless tie in the first half, Lindenwood scored in the 61st minute to take a 1-0 lead. CMU had several opportunities to tie the score, including a shot by junior Holly Jones (Keller, Texas) that sailed just wide of the goal. Later, sophomore Shawn Beard (Moberly, Mo.) took a shot from the top of the box, but the Lindenwood goalkeeper was able to get her fingertips on it to knock it out.

Lindenwood out-shot CMU 17-11 in the match, but had just a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. Freshman Brittany Andert (St. Peters, Mo.) played 90 minutes in goal for CMU, picking up six saves.

The Lady Eagles dropped to 3-11-2 on the season and 0-7 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with the loss. Lindenwood improved to 6-9-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the HAAC. CMU will close its season with a pair of conference road matches. The Lady Eagles will travel to Marshall, Mo., Saturday to take on Missouri Valley College, before traveling to Canton, Mo., on Nov. 3 to face Culver-Stockton College.
