Boonville, Mo. The Central Methodist University's women's golf team began play in the 2016 CMU Eagle Open at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville on Monday. After one round, Central Methodist sits in third place, just four strokes behind Missouri Valley College; who are currently in second place.

"We are just four strokes off of second place," said CMU head coach Jim Ray Kluck. "It will be very hard for us to get first place. Our women have played extremely well."

Currently Columbia College leads after shooting a 337 combined score on day one. Central Methodist is in third place with a score of 381.

"Some notables for us include Hannah Clark (Kansas City, Kan.) and Alex Fjeseth (Nixa, Mo.)," added Kluck. "I think tomorrow we will see some movement out of the women and hopefully get second place.

Central Methodist will close out play in the 2016 CMU Eagle Open tomorrow (Tuesday), beginning at 9am at the Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville.
