FAYETTE, Mo. – Despite getting out to an early lead, the (RV) Central Methodist University women's basketball team was unable to hold off No. 14 William Penn in a home contest on Wednesday evening.
Central Methodist (17-10, 13-8 Heart) shot an efficient 40.9 percent from the floor, but were unable to slow down the hot-handed Statesmen. WPU shot 46.2 percent from beyond the arc as they sunk 12 three-pointers.
Tatiana Grant (SR/Milwaukee, Wis.) earned her first start since January 10, finishing the game as the team leader in scoring (22 points), assists (5), steals (3), and rebounds (7). Rounding out the top scorers were Mercedes Jefflo (JR/Compton, Calif.), who notched 14 points, and Crimson Jones (JR/Flora, Ill.), who finished with 12 points. Jones also pulled down seven boards.
Central Methodist returns to action on Saturday with a road trip to Missouri Valley College. Tipoff is set for 2 pm in Marshall, Mo.
